Conceptual framework of the Nepal–India Digital Corridor unveiled
The highest umbrella organization of Nepal’s information technology sector, Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation), has formally unveiled the conceptual framework of the Nepal–India Digital Corridor.
The framework was released with the objective of accelerating South Asia’s digital transformation, promoting regional innovation, and establishing Nepal and India as leading digital hubs.
This action plan/framework was prepared under the leadership of CAN Federation’s Senior Vice President and ICT policy expert, Chiranjibi Adhikari.
He has been active in the ICT sector for a long time.
By aligning Nepal’s IT Decade 2024–2034 strategy with India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) capabilities, the corridor aims to create a secure, sustainable, and innovation-oriented digital environment between the two countries.
The digital corridor framework rests on seven pillars: cross-border fintech integration; startup and innovation collaboration; exchange of skills, certifications, and technical workforce; cybersecurity cooperation; artificial intelligence (AI) and research partnerships; digital infrastructure development; and policy harmonization.
Unveiling the framework, Adhikari said that Nepal and India can jointly build a digital future.
It is estimated that this corridor will concretely support the creation of 1.5 million IT jobs in Nepal over the coming decade and help realize the goal of IT service exports worth USD 3 billion.
