When the Printer Is Only Half the Cost: Brother’s Approach to Economical Printing
Kathmandu: In Nepal’s increasingly digital workplaces, printing remains an important part of everyday business. From invoices and quotations to reports, contracts and official documents, many businesses continue to rely on printed materials. Yet when purchasing a printer, businesses often focus primarily on the upfront price and overlook what it will cost to keep printing. The printer is only the beginning of the expense.
Brother’s Approach to Economical Printing
Brother’s Toner Box Series, available in Nepal through Baleyo, is built around this principle of economical monochrome printing. The series uses the TN-B028 toner, with a stated yield of approximately 2,600 pages under specified testing conditions. The toner cost works out to be less than Rs. 1 per page based on the stated yield.
Why Toner Yield Matters
Ink cartridges generally produce around 700–1,000 pages, while laser toner cartridges can produce 2,500 pages or more, depending on the cartridge and printing conditions. This is why a laser printer, even if it costs slightly more initially, can prove more economical for regular printing.
The models in Brother’s Mono Laser Toner Box Series use TN-B028 toner, keeping running costs broadly consistent across the range. This allows users to choose based on their needs: the HL Series focuses on printing, the DCP Series adds scanning and copying, while the MFC Series also includes fax.
Built for Regular Printing
For businesses printing 8,000–10,000 pages a month, the Brother’s Toner Box Series can be a practical choice, particularly where controlling recurring printing costs matters. With models offering features such as automatic two-sided printing, scanning, copying and wireless connectivity, businesses can choose a configuration that matches their specific printing needs.
Looking Beyond the Purchase Price
Nepal’s workplaces are becoming more digital, but paper has hardly disappeared. That makes the printer purchase only the beginning of the decision. For businesses that print regularly, understanding page yield, consumable prices and cost per page can be just as important as considering printing speed, connectivity or additional features.
The question, therefore, should go beyond “How much does the printer cost?” to a more important one: “How much will it cost to keep printing?”
