Spotify's Car View function, which was launched to the music streaming service's Android and iOS apps in 2019, is being retired. When driving, Spotify users could utilize the Car View feature to swiftly navigate through fast settings and manage music playback, eliminating engagement with the app when their hands were intended to be on the wheel.
The removal of the popular function was verified recently, according to The Verge, when a Spotify moderator was observed replying to a query on the Spotify community website. "We can confirm that the automobile view functionality is being phased off." This does not, however, negate our desire to enhance how our users listen to Spotify while driving," the moderator responded. "On the contrary, we're constantly looking for innovative methods to provide the finest in-car listening experience."

Another moderator stated that the service is also removing another feature, the Now Playing view for Android devices. While some users are unconcerned with the change, Spotify subscribers who have been using Car View to improve their driving experience since 2019 are chastising the company, accusing it of implicitly marketing its $80 Spotify Car Thing gadget, which is exclusively available to Spotify Premium members.
"For the time being, please bear with us. While we work behind the scenes to improve the experience, one option is to listen hands-free using Google Assistant," the moderator's original remark continues. We'll have to wait for additional information from Spotify to see if a Car View successor is in the works.
