REPORT: Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro may come with new Tensor GS201 SoC

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro rumors have begun to circulate. Google's next-generation flagship smartphones are expected to use a second-generation Google Tensor SoC and a new Samsung Exynos modem. The leak also specifies the internal model designations for the Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, the second-generation Google Tensor SoC, and the Samsung Exynos modem, in addition to these critical characteristics.

Aside from that, nothing is known about the impending Google Pixel 7 series. According to 9to5Google, Google is hard at work on this year's flagship devices, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. However, the rumor does not specify when Google would release the next-generation Pixel devices. Based on the timing of Google's previous Pixel flagship smartphones, the next Pixel 7 series might be released around October of this year.

The internal model designations for the incoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are reported to be Cheetah and Panther, respectively. According to the rumor, the future Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be powered on the Google Tensor GS201 SoC, which has the internal product number Cloudripper. In addition, the SoC will be paired with a new Samsung Exynos 5300 modem - Ravenclaw is Google's internal moniker — that Samsung has yet to reveal.

According to the source, these specs were uncovered following the publication of Google's Android 13 developer preview. Google is said to have modified the naming scheme for its Pixel devices. All Nexus and Pixel smartphones released prior to the Google Pixel 6 series were named after fish or other sea creatures. The Pixel 6 series' flagship smartphones were codenamed Oriole and Raven last year.

Google is reportedly planning to employ feline-themed codenames for its devices this year. Ravenclaw might relate to a Hogwarts allusion, or it could indicate something altogether else. According to the rumor, the Ravenclaw codename is a combination of two elements: the Pixel 6 Pro shell and the Tensor GS201 SoC.
