Call of Duty Won\'t Have a New Entry In 2023!!!

Since 2005, a new mainstream Call of Duty title has been released every year, but that will ostensibly change next year. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Activision Blizzard is postponing a Call of Duty title that was supposed to be released in 2023. Activision is pushing the game, which Schreier claims is being created by Treyarch, the creators of Call of Duty: Black Ops, after last year's yearly release, Call of Duty: Vanguard, failed to fulfill expectations. According to Schreier, this caused officials to "believe that it had been cannibalized by the previous year's game."

According to a recent SEC filing, Vanguard failed to fulfill Activision's fourth-quarter estimates. Activision, on the other hand, appears to be planning to release further Call of Duty material. Activision has previously promised that the 2022 release, which will be a successor to 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, will receive "a consistent supply of extra content," according to Schreier. There will also be a new free-to-play online game accessible in 2023, which looks to be in addition to the eventual release of Warzone 2, which Schreier announced in a tweet.

Activision spokesperson Neil Wood said in a statement, "We have an exciting schedule of premium and free-to-play Call of Duty experiences for this year, next year, and beyond." "Reports of anything else are false." We look forward to sharing additional information when the time comes." Activision revealed preliminary details regarding the Modern Warfare sequel and a "new Warzone experience" (perhaps the Warzone 2 described by Schreier) in February, and both are set to release this year.

While Activision has stated that they would be "developed together from the bottom up," it is unclear whether the new Warzone is a full sequel or a significant upgrade to the old game. Both will be propelled by a brand-new engine. Activision has been under fire as a result of a California lawsuit alleging that it created a culture of "continuous sexual harassment," as well as labor protests by employees, including some who work on Call of Duty. Microsoft announced in January that it had reached an agreement to buy the firm for $68.7 billion.
