INSTAGRAM: Instagram still won’t build an iPad app!!!

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri dismissed the idea of an iPad app once more (after all, who cares about the millions of iPad users out there?). We're exhausted. It's been 12 years since Instagram launched, and it's been over a decade without an iPad app. Mosseri's most recent remark on the subject doesn't even elicit fury. He's basically reiterated the same thing over and over again throughout the years, which amounts to a massive slap in the face for iPad/Instagram users everywhere.

In response to the potential of an iPad app for Instagram, Mosseri commented on Twitter, "It's still simply not a big enough group of people to be a priority." "We're hoping to get to that at some time, but right now we're really heading down on other things." According to market research company IDC, Apple delivered 17.5 million iPads globally in the fourth quarter of 2021, accounting for 34% of the global tablet market. Apple shipped approximately 7.6 million Macs in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to IDC.

However, iPhone sales outstripped both by a large margin, with IDC recording 84.9 million iPhone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2021. Apple stated in 2021 that out of 1.6 billion active devices, over 1 billion were iPhones. Mosseri evidently has ample reason to devalue platforms with install bases estimated in the tens or hundreds of millions and overlook anyone who only wants to scroll through images on their tablet, given that sales continue to outperform the rest of Apple's hardware portfolio and competing handsets.

Mosseri emphasizes this point in another tweet, stating that Android is the most popular platform Instagram supports, with over 3 billion active smartphones. If that's the case, Instagram on iPad has no trouble ignoring anyone.
