According to a rumor, Samsung will soon release a software update for its different devices that were discovered to be limiting performance on thousands of apps. Non-gaming apps are not managed by the South Korean tech giant's preinstalled Game Optimizing Service, according to the company.
Several games, such as Genshin Impact, and programs, such as Instagram, Netflix, and some Google apps, have seen a performance drop. Benchmarking programs like 3DMark and Geekbench, on the other hand, did not appear to be affected by the performance slowdown. Samsung spokesman Kelly Yeo told, "We respect the input we receive regarding our devices, and after careful study, we expect to bring out a software update shortly so consumers may regulate the performance when using gaming applications."
According to reports, the corporation issued a statement in Korean via its Samsung Members app. Later, a Twitter user translated the message and uploaded it online. Several Samsung Galaxy smartphone customers turned to Twitter to complain about throttling on their devices. Samsung phones are allegedly employing a preinstalled program called Game Optimizing Service to limit the usage of hardware resources for more than 10,000 apps, according to a Twitter user.
When utilizing both non-gaming and gaming applications, the default app is said to run in the background. The throttling problem was also thought to be restricted to Samsung Galaxy S22 devices. However, Geekbench creator John Poole confirmed that performance is capped on earlier devices as well. The actual reason for Samsung's claimed restriction of device performance via the Game Optimizing Service is unknown, and the firm hasn't offered any explanations in their statement.
