APPLE next week: iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4 and macOS Monterey 12.3 with Updated Face ID Unlock when wearing a mask

Apple announced the release of iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, and macOS Monterey 12.3 alongside the announcement of its new devices, including the iPhone SE (2022), Mac Studio, Studio Display, and the green iPhone 13 series. One of the most beneficial features of iOS 15.4 is the ability to utilize Face ID to unlock an iPhone while wearing a mask.

Universal Control will be included in the upcoming iPadOS and macOS versions, allowing users to operate smoothly between an iPad and a Mac. The iPhone 13 Pro in Alpine Green and the iPhone 13 in Green will also come with iOS 15.4, according to Apple. Next week, current iPhone owners will be able to upgrade to the latest iOS software.

The iOS 15.4 update will include a new option to use Face ID to unlock your iPhone while wearing a mask. Since late January, the functionality has been under beta testing. People have been having trouble unlocking their smartphones while wearing a face mask, therefore this is one of the most requested features. Apple attempted to fix the issue by introducing a faster way to use passcodes to unlock Face ID-equipped devices when wearing face masks.

Last year, it added the ability to use an Apple Watch to unlock Face ID. However, consumers have been anticipating the ability of facial recognition technology to function with face masks since the start of the COVID-19 epidemic in early 2020. The iOS 15.4 update will also include an anti-stalking warning for AirTag, which was disclosed by Apple last month as part of the upgrades. It was discovered in iOS 15.4's fourth beta release a few weeks ago.

iOS 15.4 will also contain a new Siri voice option, extended language support for Visual Lookup, and a list of emojis, according to Apple. Apple will release iPadOS 15.4 and macOS Monterey 12.3 next week, in addition to iOS 15.4. Universal Operate will be included in the upcoming software versions, allowing users to control their iPad and Mac concurrently with a single keyboard and mouse.
