EPIC: Epic donates two weeks of Fortnite, proceeds to Ukraine for operation relief

Today marks the start of a new season of Fortnite, and producer Epic Games has pledged to donate all of the game's profits from the first two weeks to humanitarian operations in Ukraine. From 20 th of March, 2022 through the 3 rd of April, 2022, all "real-money transactions" in the game, such as purchased V-bucks, subscriptions, gifts battle passes, and specific cosmetic packs, will be included in the activity.

Using V-Bucks in Fortnite will not be included since they are not real-money purchases, according to Epic. It will also cover retail gift card purchases if they are used within the two-week period. Microsoft would also "contribute their net revenues for Fortnite at this period, so that we can get additional relief to the people of Ukraine," as part of the campaign.

Direct Relief, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Children's Fund and the World Food Programme are among the organizations that will get funds. More supported organizations will be added "in the coming weeks," according to the developer. Epic said it will give funding to these charities "as soon as possible." We're not waiting for the cash to arrive from our platform and payment partners, which might take a long time depending on how the transaction was handled.

We'll track transactions as they come through and deliver donations to humanitarian aid groups within days." Other gaming-related campaigns have raised millions of dollars for humanitarian help in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Earlier this month, an Itch.io bundle of independent games garnered more than $6 million, while a Humble Bundle centered on Ukraine has already collected more than $9 million.
