NYC: Innovation centers are being established in all the provinces of Nepal

The National Youth Council will establish innovation centers in each of the seven provinces with the goal of attracting youth to entrepreneurship. In order to do so, the youth will need to be involved in some sort of process. With cutting-edge thinking, technical and vocational training, as well as necessary counseling, will be provided to the youth. The innovation center, according to Surendra Basnet, executive vice-chairman of the National Youth Council, will assist them in becoming self-employed and entrepreneurial by providing up-to-date knowledge and skills in their field of interest through training.

According to him, the project will move forward only after discussing issues such as housing, training based on expert advice, and a market for goods and services produced based on youth ideas. The work on establishing a center has already begun in Bagmati Province. A multilateral agreement has been reached, according to Basnet, to establish a center in Namobuddha municipality, Kavrepalanchok district, in this province.A center is being set up at Arubari Chaur in Namobuddha Municipality-8.The municipality has given the council 53 ropanis of land for the center.

According to the agreement, the National Youth Council will be in charge of establishing and operating the center. Namobuddha Municipality, likewise, will serve as a land tenure and practice partner. Kathmandu University will serve as a Knowledge Partner, and Idea Studio Nepal will serve as a Technical Partner, according to Ramakant Sharma, the Council's Administrative Head.Last year, the council set aside Rs 10 million for the center. According to Sharma, Rs 49 lakh has been set aside this year.

A similar agreement has been reached with the Madan Bhandari Educational Institute in Morang's Urlabari for the establishment of a center under Province 1. "The issue is being discussed with the province's social development ministry," Sharma said. Work on the project has already begun in other states.' A budget of Rs 6.5 million has been set aside for this project in Province 1, according to Sharma.The Council has adopted a policy requiring all types of educational institutions across the country to incorporate innovation and incubation into their regular programs, as well as industrial and commercial establishments to incorporate innovation and incubation into their activities.

Aside from that, the council has set a goal of providing competition-based innovation grants to science and technology students. The government has designated the establishment of a "Youth Innovation Center" as a landmark change program in the field of youth development in the Fifteenth Five Year Plan.The government has advanced the process through the Fiscal Year 2076/77 policy and program, in accordance with the same plan. The council is also planning an entrepreneurship program, with at least two schools from each of the seven provinces being chosen. The government established a council under the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the overall development of the youth on 2 nd of March, 2016.

The government has unveiled a 10-year strategic plan, Youth Vision 2025, in which it promises to ensure that all young people have access to quality education that is vocational, skill-oriented, and employment-oriented.According to Sharma, the council has been conducting youth-targeted training at the central and district levels, as well as state and local-level programs to increase participation in politics and development, as well as training on youth participation (economic, political, and social development). Youth in Nepal are defined as those between the ages of 16 and 40. About 40% of the population belongs to this category.
