ASUS: Asus’ new portable monitor looks like it was ripped from a Duo laptop

The Asus ProArt Monitor PA147CDV is a 14-inch touchscreen meant for creatives to use as a supplementary display. With its compact size and ultrawide 32:9 aspect ratio, it appears as if Asus has taken the secondary display from one of its Duo laptops and transformed it into an external monitor. Asus is demonstrating it at the NAB 2022 event in Las Vegas and revealing plans to market the monitor in North America in Q2 2022 at an unspecified price.

Asus is pitching the PA147CDV as an accessory for creatives looking for a little extra screen real estate without investing in a bulky second monitor or touchscreen tablet, thanks to its support for Microsoft's Pen Protocol 2.0 and a built-in dial that's designed to emulate the functionality of Microsoft's Surface Dial.

It's hoped that it would be less expensive than rival panels with bigger screens. The PA147CDV sports a 14-inch 1920 x 550 IPS touchscreen and two USB-C connectors, as well as one HDMI port. It may be positioned horizontally or vertically thanks to its stand. Asus is also showing off a couple of extra monitors that will be released later this year, in addition to the PA147CDV.

The ProArt Display OLED PA32DC 31.5-inch 3840 x 2160 display, which was announced in September, will be available in North America in Q3 of this year. The ProArt Display PA348CGV, an ultrawide 1440p monitor with a 120Hz refresh rate that was revealed at CES 2022, will be joining it. If and when Asus responds to our price inquiry, we'll update this article.
