NASA predicts asteroid larger than colosseum to approach Earth tomorrow

NASA has previously declared that a 190-foot-wide asteroid will approach Earth shortly. To put things in perspective, the asteroid is larger than Rome's Colosseum (157 feet). The asteroid will make its closest approach to our planet on Wednesday, June 8, according to the space agency. It is not unusual for asteroids to pass close to Earth. The asteroid will make its closest approach to Earth at a speed of 2,660,000 miles per hour.

A 160-foot asteroid passed near to Earth earlier on Monday. However, the incoming asteroid is causing consternation. When an asteroid of size reaches our planet on Wednesday, it may have a noticeable impact. NASA has designated the asteroid 2022 KV1 as a 'near-Earth object' (NEO). NASA continually monitors this group of asteroids, which potentially pose a hazard to Earth.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has given further information about the asteroid. As the name suggests, this asteroid was found in 2022. There is no previous evidence that this asteroid has ever been spotted near to Earth. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory also mentioned the "Next Five Asteroid Approaches" on their website, which includes 2022 KV1.

According to the space agency, the asteroid will pass through safely and will not damage the planet. NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office (PDCO) is in charge of the monitoring. The pattern of the course that this asteroid will take is still unknown. This is due to the fact that it will make its first approach to Earth. Since the asteroid's detection this year, NASA has not seen any unusual motions. However, the space rock has taken on a peculiar orbit.
