Report: Google Tensor SoC Beats Snapdragon 888, Exynos 2100, Kirin 9000 in GPU Benchmark Tests

The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were released last week, and according to a new study, the Google-designed Tensor SoC that powers both phones outperforms the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, Samsung Exynos 2100, and HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chipsets in GPU benchmarks. A user on Reddit shared these benchmarks, which were done on 3DMark Wild Life, Wild Life Extreme, and Wild Life Stress. In each of the three tests, the Google Pixel 6's Tensor chipset appears to outperform the other top Android chipsets by a significant margin.

It should be emphasized that these findings do not reflect actual performance in the real world. According to Reddit user Greg (u/grt3), he acquired the Google Pixel 6 early and asked other Reddit users if they had any questions. Greg put the smartphone through 3DMark Wild Life, Wild Life Extreme, and Wild Life Stress tests after a user inquired about the GPU performance of the Google Tensor SoC.

The Google Tensor SoC is alleged to have earned 6,666 points in the Wild Life test, producing 39 frames per second, and 2,028 points in the Wild Life Extreme test, delivering 12.8 frames per second. It achieved a best loop score of 2,129 and a low loop score of 1,193 at 56 percent stability in the Wild Life Stress test, which lasts up to 20 minutes. Golden Reviewer (@Golden Reviewer) tweeted a snapshot of the Wild Life Extreme scores for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Huawei Mate 40 Pro. With its Snapdragon 888 CPU, the Galaxy smartphone received a total score of 1,494 points at an average frame rate of 8.90 frames per second.

The Exynos 2100 chipset, on the other hand, scored 1,793 points at 10.70 frames per second. With a frame rate of 12 frames per second, the Huawei smartphone with the Kirin 9000 SoC received 2,004 points. These findings suggest that the Google Tensor SoC is the top Android smartphone SoC in terms of graphics performance, however this information should be taken with a grain of salt because few reviewers have benchmarked the recently released Pixel 6 series or the Tensor SoC.
