Spotify Makes Blocking Other Users Easier, Defaults to Autoplay for Connected Devices

Spotify has released a plethora of upgrades throughout the world. The Swedish audio streaming and media services provider has made it more easy to restrict other users. Additionally, it has enabled Autoplay by default on Spotify Connect devices, however some users have expressed their dissatisfaction with this.

Spotify Charts, the third important feature, provides city-specific music suggestions. Spotify users may now simply ban a user by navigating to their profile, hitting the three-dots menu above their public playlists, and tapping Block, as reported by The Verge (or Block User on mobile). The person you've blocked won't be able to see your activity or listen to any of your public playlists. Users had to contact customer service to block other users before.

When a user is playing music on Spotify Connect devices, such as linked speakers, Spotify changed its Autoplay function, making it active by default. A Spotify Community administrator clarified that it was really a feature after people addressed the issue on the Spotify Community forum, assuming it was a bug. "Autoplay will be activated and tracks will be added to continue playback anytime you play music from Spotify on a device other than your phone or PC/Mac (installable applications, not our Web Player)."

This will happen regardless of the Autoplay setting that is currently engaged. This option just impacts playback on your phone or PC/Mac (apps) and is not universal," the moderator explained. Spotify also created 'Local Pulse' charts, which rank the most popular songs in each location each week in comparison to their global popularity.
