Snap adds new Layers on Snap Map: Here’s what will be new

Snapchat's Snap Map was upgraded on 17 th of November, 2021 and it now includes a feature called Layers, which allows users to superimpose material and information about different areas. The goal of adding Layers to Snap Map is to improve Snapchat collaborations by displaying partner content on the virtual map. In the meanwhile, Snapchat parent Snap has released Explore and Memories as two early experiences for the functionality, which will let users to access both public and private material based on your location.

Snapchat has begun offering Layers to overlay content and information on Snap Map, as previously revealed at the Snap Partner Summit 2021 in May. Snap collaborated with The Infatuation, a restaurant recommendation network, to highlight eateries, and Ticketmaster Entertainment, a ticket distribution firm, to highlight shows as layers. However, such collaborations have yet to appear on Snapchat. Meanwhile, Snapchat has introduced Explore, a feature that allows you to see photographs and videos posted by Snapchatters all around the world.

The new product, according to Snap, is based on the current Heat Map and aims to make it simpler for the community to discover new areas through material shared by other users. When you enable the Explore layer, you'll see huge symbols of popular locations on the map, as well as content uploaded by Snapchatters in those locations. This is an update to the current Heat Map, which allows you to view popular locations and watch tales shared at those locations by pressing them on the map.

Along with Explore, Snapchat's Map now offers Memories, which shows you the photographs and videos you've taken at a certain location. It will realistically display your personal recollections on the areas where they were captured. On Snapchat, go to the Snap Map tab, which is adjacent to the Chat button in the bottom bar, to try out Layers. When you're on the map screen, press the blue globe on the right-hand side to access Explore. By pressing the Memories symbol, which is located directly above the Explore button, you may look back at your favorite memories.
