Google Announces Expansion of Fast Pair to More Devices, Quicker Setup for Chromebook Users

Google unveiled a variety of Android improvements that are geared at providing consumers with more comfort and simplicity. The addition of Fast Pair to TVs, Chromebooks, and smart home devices is one of the most important developments. Google also revealed that headphones would be able to smoothly convert the audio from an Android mobile to a tablet. A rapid setup of Chromebooks with Android phones has also been revealed by the business. Wear OS smartwatches will be able to unlock your Chromebook and Android devices in the same way.

Since November 2017, Android phones have had Fast Pair, which allows users to swiftly pair Bluetooth headphones with their phones. The proprietary standard aims to compete with Apple's rapid pairing technology, and it claims to have connected Android phones to Bluetooth gadgets over 100 million times. By collaborating with multiple manufacturers and delivering fresh experiences, Google plans to expand Fast Pair to newer devices. Users will be able to connect their Fast Pair-enabled Bluetooth headphones to a Chromebook automatically with a single click when they switch them on for the first time in a few weeks, according to Google.

Fast Pair will work with Google TV and Android TV smart TVs in the future months, in addition to Chromebooks, to allow customers rapidly connect their compatible headphones with their TVs without having to go through a step-by-step procedure. In the next weeks, Matter smart home devices will also acquire Fast Pair functionality. It will allow you to connect Matter smart home devices to your network, Google Home, and other companion applications instantaneously.

Google also stated that it is working on a technique that would allow Bluetooth-enabled headphones to automatically switch to the device you're listening to. For example, if you're watching a movie on your Android tablet with headphones on and get a call on your phone during that time, the movie will halt and the headphone audio will immediately transition to your Android phone. When the call is ended, it will return to your tablet. Google also stated that in the next months, it will add spatial audio support to headphones that work with Android devices. The headphones will be able to adjust the music based on head motions, according to the manufacturer. Apple, for example, has long had spatial audio capability on its devices.

Google also revealed that customers would be able to set up a new Chromebook with their Android phone in seconds, giving them rapid access to information like Google login and Wi-Fi passwords without having to manually input them on the new device. The upgrade will be available later this year, though Google hasn't specified which Chromebook models or Android versions will receive it.
