According to experts, common passwords can now be guessed by AI systems within seconds. As a result, cybersecurity professionals strongly recommend using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and practicing safe internet usage habits.
Create a Strong Password First
Do not rely solely on numbers or lowercase letters in your password. A strong password should include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (such as @, &, !, #, etc.). Never use passwords based on your date of birth or publicly available information.
Experts recommend using at least 17 random characters in a password. The longer and more complex the password, the harder it becomes for AI-driven tools to crack it.
Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) or Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security beyond your password. This typically involves receiving a code via email, SMS, or through authentication apps such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
Since SMS-based codes can sometimes be intercepted, using an authenticator app is considered more secure.
Change Passwords Regularly
It is recommended to change your passwords every 90 days. With AI now capable of cracking passwords more efficiently, regular updates have become even more important. Additionally, using the same password across multiple accounts poses a major risk. Each account should have a unique password.
Be Cautious When Using Public Wi-Fi
Public Wi-Fi networks are often prime targets for hackers. Avoid conducting digital transactions or logging into sensitive accounts while connected to public networks.
