Apple Says Universal Control Coming to macOS Monterey Later This Fall

Apple will release macOS Monterey on 25 th of October, 2021, the company's newest operating system for Mac computers. The new macOS was unveiled at WWDC 2021 in June and is intended to replace macOS Big Sur, which was released last year. There are a number of enhancements in macOS Monterey 12 that make it easier to use numerous Apple devices. SharePlay and Focus, which are also accessible on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, are included as well. In addition, the macOS update adds Universal Control and AirPlay to Mac, enhancing Apple's Continuity and providing a more consistent experience across Apple devices.

Unlike macOS Big Sur, which introduced a major interface overhaul to the Mac world, macOS Monterey focuses on improving user experience through a number of behind-the-scenes adjustments. It adds Universal Control, which allows users to multitask between a Mac and an iPad with a single mouse and keyboard. Users may also utilize Apple Pencil with the Universal Control function. This allows you to transfer your iPad drawing and sketching right into a Keynote slide on your Mac. Through macOS Monterey, Apple has also made AirPlay available to Mac users. It allows users to wirelessly play, display, and share material from their iPhone or iPad to their Mac. With the upgrade, you may also utilize your Mac's sound system as an AirPlay speaker.

Quick Notes is a new feature in macOS Monterey that improves productivity. This allows you to scribble essential notes while surfing the web or using an app. Shortcuts, which were first introduced in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 last year, are also included in the latest macOS version. It allows you to automate things on your Mac. Apple has also included a separate Shortcuts Editor for Mac, which allows users to customize shortcuts according to their preferences. The macOS Monterey update also includes a redesigned Safari browser with a fresh tab layout. Tab Groups are now included, allowing you to store and manage numerous tabs under a single title.

There's also a new Grid View and an improved FaceTime with spatial audio capabilities. Within macOS Monterey, Apple has included its SharePlay feature, which allows users to share their movies, TV programs, and projects with friends and family over FaceTime calls. Users with an iCloud membership will get iCloud+ access, which includes services like Hide My Email and iCloud Private Relay. There's also spatial audio capability, which is only available on newer Mac computers and may be used with the AirPods (3rd Generation), AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max. macOS Monterey will be available for download on Mac devices running macOS Big Sur, including the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini.

When the next macOS version is published on October 25, it will automatically update all eligible Mac devices. You may check for the update manually by heading to System Preferences > Software Update after selecting the Apple menu symbol in the top-left corner of your computer's screen. You may also obtain the update by going to the Apple menu and selecting the About This Mac option. The macOS Monterey update will come pre-installed on Apple's new MacBook Pro (2021) models, which were unveiled on Monday at the company's 'Unleashed' event.
