The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was unveiled with the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ smartphones, as well as the Galaxy Tab S8 series, during the company's Galaxy Unpacked event. During the launch ceremony, the South Korean business disclosed that the Galaxy S22 series was protected by Armor Aluminium and Gorilla Glass Victus+, which can be found on both the front and back of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. According to a recent video on the PBKReviews channel, the smartphone has a durability rating of 9.5 out of 10. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is momentarily immersed in water in the video, with little effect on the smartphone – hardly unexpected, given that it has an IP68 classification for dust and water resistance. Following that, Samsung's current flagship smartphone is subjected to a scratch test, which reveals scratches with a level 7 Mohs hardness pick and deeper grooves with a level 8 pick.
According to the video, scratching the fingerprint sensor region does not appear to hinder the sensor from operating. While the phone's sides are constructed of metal, the antenna region is made of plastic. The smartphone was also put to a "bend test," which shows viewers what can happen if the phone bends in a tight pocket. The video then puts Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra through another grueling test: getting ran over by a car. While it is unknown how many people will have their phone wind up behind the wheel of a car, the Galaxy S22 Ultra looks to have passed PBKReview's most recent test uninjured.
Apart from a few scratches from resting face down during the test, the smartphone looked to be running correctly after the experience, with no bending and the screen intact. While PBKReviews rates the Galaxy S22 Ultra at 9.5/10 for durability, the channel also recently tested the vanilla Galaxy S22 model and gave it a 10/10 rating. Drop tests on both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones were not performed by the channel, but they are sure to surface on other YouTube channels when the phones reach more reviewers and users in the coming weeks.
