Ming-Chi Kuo: “Apple Watch Series 8 may sense body temperature, if Algorithm Supports”

Apple Watch Series 8, which is slated to be released later this year, has generated a lot of interest due to its impending capabilities. According to previous rumors, Apple is working on incorporating a capability to assess body temperature into the series. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman was the first to address the rumors, speculating that Apple would not include the body temperature capability in Watch Series 8.

However, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a series of recent tweets that the business is working on an algorithm to support the temperature sensing capability in the next wristwatch. Kuo came to Twitter to clarify why the body temperature function was not included in the Apple Watch Series 7 release. He also said that the functionality couldn't be made to operate on the watch since the algorithm didn't support its qualifying before it reached the Engineering Validation Testing stage.

Also, assuming the algorithm supports the need, Apple plans to provide the temperature measuring capability with the Apple Watch Series 8 this year. The wristwatch will be able to operate as a thermometer and detect fever thanks to this capability. Kuo has solved a critical problem that makes body temperature detection difficult for smartwatches to implement.

He added that "the issue in adopting exact body temperature measurement is that skin temperature quickly fluctuates based on outside conditions." Smartwatches, he continued, are unable to determine core temperature measurements solely based on their technology. As a result, for smartwatches to integrate temperature sensing, an effective algorithm is necessary.
