Netflix recently announced the introduction of a mobile game service for Android customers, confirming its push into gaming. Additionally, Netflix has stated that it is working on making the gaming service available to iOS customers as well.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, doing the same may be difficult due to Apple's App Store restrictions prohibiting Netflix from making games available through its app. Other third-party applications are currently not allowed to provide apps within the App Store. This is also why Xbox Cloud Gaming and Google Stadia have yet to arrive on iOS.
Netflix would distribute its games through the App Store, according to Mark Gurman's claim, and code unearthed by developer Steve Moser and shared with Bloomberg corroborated this. If this is the case, users will be unable to download or play games directly from the Netflix app. Even on Android, the games are downloaded individually from the Google Play Store, despite the fact that they are available under a dedicated tab on the app.
According to the article, Netflix may ultimately sell its games through the cloud. The firm has claimed that its mobile game collection would be accessible in several languages supported by the service, with the games defaulting to the preferences made in your Netflix profile. Subscribers to Netflix will be able to play games on numerous mobile devices with the same account.
