Intel will put unvaccinated employees on unpaid leave!!!

Employees at Intel have apparently been warned that they must acquire the COVID-19 vaccination or file an exemption form by January 4th. According to The Associated Press and The Oregonian, if they do not comply, they will be placed on unpaid leave. Intel HR manager Christy Pambianchi said unvaccinated staff will need to seek an exemption or have weekly testing, even if they work from home, in a message acquired by both media on December 7th. She is also said to have warned staff that the corporation will examine medical and religious exemptions until March 15th of the following year.

Last month, the corporation set a vaccine deadline of January 4th, but did not explain what would happen if employees who were not vaccinated did not comply. If an employee's exemption is denied, they will be placed on unpaid leave for at least three months beginning April 4th and "will not be dismissed," according to Pambiachi. Intel will continue to provide healthcare coverage to individuals on leave, she added. The vaccine requirement at Intel was implemented to comply with President Joe Biden's vaccine mandate for businesses with more than 100 workers.

Federal courts, on the other hand, are currently arguing whether such a broad mandate is constitutional. In a statement received by The Oregonian, Intel stated, "We are actively following the legal landscape and think it will take time for the lawsuit in Georgia, as well as other comparable matters, to be properly resolved." Google has also begun to tighten down on unvaccinated employees, apparently stating that if they do not get vaccinated or file an exemption by January 13th, they would be placed on a 30-day administrative leave.

In contrast to Intel, if they are still not immunized after the 30-day period, they may be liable to unpaid leave and perhaps firing. Both Facebook and Microsoft are implementing vaccination regulations, requiring staff to get vaccinated before returning to work, which has been delayed until 2022 for both businesses. Apple hasn't gone as far as its large tech rivals and hasn't mandated vaccinations. However, Apple still requires employees to take COVID examinations on a regular basis.
