The Nepal Police Cyber Bureau has arrested a woman for allegedly murdering a character on YouTube. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Navinda Aryal, a spokesperson for the Bureau, said Sharmila Waiba, a 30-year-old resident of Tarkeshwor Municipality-10 in Kathmandu, was arrested on the charge of making false and uncontrollable statements through Celeb Nepal and Alone Media Channel.
She was apprehended by Chitwan police with the assistance of the Khairhani Area Police Office last Friday (18 th of March, 2022). She was apprehended and taken to Kathmandu. SSP Aryal stated that the Kathmandu District Court is conducting the investigation after extending the time limit by seven days due to her violation of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 BS.
The ETA (Electronic Transaction and Digital Signature Act - Ordinance) is also referred to as Nepal's cyber law. It was drafted in 30 th of Bhadra, 2061 BS (15 th of September, 2004 AD), but the Electronic Transaction Act - 2063 was only approved by the Nepalese government (House of Representatives) on 4 th of December, 2006. The term "electronic transaction" refers to data transactions involving the use of any type of electronic medium. It contains electronic records and valid digital medium, as well as the exchange of all types of electronic records.
The term "electronic transaction act" refers to an act that has to do with electronic transactions. The main goal of this act is to make legal provisions for electronic data authentication and regulation, to create a reliable date generation, communication, and transmission system, to create a secure and authentic means of electronic communication, and to regulate all electronic transaction-related matters.
