SAMSUNG: The Galaxy S22 to use plastic from recycled fishing nets!!!

The Galaxy S22 has been frequently leaked, but renderings can only tell you so much. Samsung, for example, has developed a "new substance" to utilize in the product, one manufactured from the plastic found in abandoned fishing nets.

Samsung said it would eventually "incorporate reused ocean-bound plastics" across its entire product range, with the Galaxy smartphones unveiled at the unpacked event on February 9th serving as the first example. It’s unclear how much of the material will be utilized or in which portions of the items; Samsung isn't saying how it will fit into the design of any of the gadgets.

Samsung claims that "ghost nets" pose a harm to marine life and coral reefs, citing a data from the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization that claims 640,000 tons of fishing nets are dumped in the oceans every year. In a blog post, the business states, "These abandoned fishing nets are disturbing the delicate balance of our ecology at an alarming rate."

"Collecting and recycling these nets is an important first step toward keeping our oceans clean and saving the earth and our common future." It's a tiny move, but one that Samsung will undoubtedly emphasize when the new Galaxy smartphones are unveiled on Wednesday. The show starts at 10 a.m. ET.
