YOUTUBE: \'YouTube channel\' should also be registered now in Nepal!!!

The government of Nepal has also made plans to seek a license for online broadcasting, which includes YouTube channels. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has modified the National Broadcasting Regulations to control Internet broadcasting for the eleventh time.

The government amended the National Broadcasting Regulations 2052 BS to require that firms delivering over-the-top (OTT), video-on-demand (VOD), and internet television services use cash servers in Nepal. It also sets the path for the regulation of YouTube channels.

According to Gagan Hamal, Director General of the Department of Information and Broadcasting, platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube Premium, Hotstar, and Sony Live will now be required to obtain authorization to operate in Nepal.

Except for licensed TVs in Nepal, if you wish to offer such OTT services, you must first obtain authorization by meeting the necessary requirements. According to the laws, to get an online television operating license to develop and transmit one's own content, one must pay Rs. 500,000. When publishing such information, it should be divided into categories based on the consumer's age.

Programs acceptable for children of all ages should be rated as 'U,' programs suitable for ten to eighteen years should be rated as 'R,' and programs suitable for those above the age of eighteen years should be rated as 'A.'
