Kathmandu-
ChildSafeNet launched the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. cyber safety awareness campaign in Nepal
this month and has set up a Nepal website www.stopthinkconnect.org.np . to provide cybersecurity awareness messaging
assets for all Nepali stakeholding communities.
ChildSafeNet signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) earlier this year with the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Messaging
Convention to promote safer use of the internet and to develop the campaign in Nepal. The partnership is expected to
enable a process for creating and managing a collaborative arrangement in the promotion of cyber security public
awareness information, and, promote and leverage common cyber security public awareness messaging related to the
overall goals of the Convention and the mandate of ChildSafeNet as it relates to cyber security.
"The STOP. THINK. CONNECT. cyber safety awareness campaign provides the opportunity to highlight positive use of the
technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young
people, parents, care-takers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, agencies, policymakers and other duty-bearers
& public to contribute in creating a better internet for children and young people", Mr. Anil Raghuvanshi, the President
of ChildSafeNet, stated.
APWG Secretary General and Messaging Convention co-founder Peter Cassidy said, “ChildSafeNet has successfully
launched the 22nd national cybsersecurity awareness campaign to be organized through the STOP. THINK. CONNECT.
Messaging Convention. We look forward to ChildSafeNet’s leadership in addressing those special challenges that young
people face in managing the amazing resources – and new hazards – that attend everyday internet usage.”
As per the MoC, ChildSafeNet is working as the curator of STOP. THINK. CONNECT. in Nepal. In order to promote the
campaign in Nepal, ChildSafeNet plans to produce microsites/blogs, videos, audio podcasts, brochures, inserts,
newsletters and posters and other materials for awareness raising. ChildSafeNet also plans to organize joint events and
set up exhibit spaces/kiosks.
Likewise, the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Convention will supply English language content that could be of use for the Nepal
campaign; provide strategic guidance for propagation of the campaign and share best practices on cybersecurity
education & awareness efforts undertaken in Nepal; collaborate with and support the efforts of ChildSafeNet where
possible; and; include ChildSafeNet as a strategic planning partner.
