Electronic Arts bans Russian teams from its FIFA and NHL games!!!

Electronic Arts has declared that both Russian national teams and professional clubs would be removed from several of its most popular sports games. NHL 22, FIFA 22, FIFA Online, and FIFA Mobile will all be removed from the game; it's unclear when the teams will be removed, but the publisher claims it has "started measures" to do so.

The decision was taken "in consultation with our colleagues at FIFA and UEFA, as well as the IIHF," according to EA. Russian teams have been barred from all tournaments "until further notice" by those regulating organizations, which administer global and European soccer and international hockey, respectively. NHL 22 will also be eliminating Belarusian clubs in addition to the Russian ones.

The decision appears to have little impact on the presence of Russian athletes in any sport. "EA Sports, like so many other voices throughout the globe of football, stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and begs for peace and a stop to the invasion of Ukraine," the business stated in a statement. EA said it is "currently investigating relevant modifications to other parts of our games" in addition to abolishing teams.

In response to the Russian invasion, EA has joined other internet giants such as Apple, Facebook, and YouTube in either changing or deleting their services. This isn't the first time EA has made changes to their sports games in response to current events. Madden was compelled to modify the offensive name of the now-Washington Commanders in 2020, and Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden was removed from the game last year.
